Volunteer Appreciation
This week, the district honored the over 300 volunteers from our community who make a difference by donating their time to Brick Schools. At this, the 14th Annual Volunteer Recognition program, PLC students sang, teachers, administrators, superintendents, and the mayor spoke, and high school students performed to express their sincere thanks. With a culinary theme, there were even guest appearances by Julia Child (BMHS student Ryan LaValle) and Jacques Pepin (BTHS student Ed LeFurge)! The high school culinary arts students then prepared and served breakfast to our volunteers.
During this, the week of a very important school vote, we were reminded that volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. We vote in elections, but when we volunteer, we vote every day about the kind of community we want to live in (Marjorie Morse).
