VMES The School That Keeps On Giving

All 5th grade students at VMES are members of the Early Act Club and each month a class takes the lead in a community project.  As the youngest members of the Rotary Club of Brick Township these students embody the phrase "You've Got a Friend."  This year they worked with the Rotary Club to supply treat filled recyclable bags for the "Sacks for Seniors" Project, raise money for Shelter Box, USA, and sell rubber bracelets to support the Polio Plus Project.  When Mrs. Donna Stump, Rotary President and Early Act liaison, went to a recent meeting to present the club with a certificate for their dedication and commitment to community projects, the club surprised her by donating $300 to the "Backpack Project" for the coming school year.  The students earned the money by working the school store and their generous contribution will help the Rotary Club supply filled backpacks to students in need.
