Students Help Convince President Obama to Save the Whales!
Students at Veterans Memorial Elementary School and the Brick Memorial High School Surf Club worked with Greenpeace this spring by participating in a Save the Whales project. The students created small whale pictures which were used on larger banners to remind President Obama to continue hold restrictions on whaling. The action of the students together with Greenpeace led the United States to vote strongly to uphold the ban on commercial whaling. This activity reminded students to always be aware of the dangers many animals face as a result of the actions of humans. Its success taught them that they too have a voice to make changes by peacefully protesting when changes need to be made.
