School Violence Awareness Week: October 18-22
All NJ school districts are required to observe this week during the third Monday in October. Our schools are participating in multiple activities with staff, students, and parents to raise awareness. Here, Emma Havens Young students are pictured kicking off violence awareness week by celebrating International Peace Day with a peace assembly. School counselors, Ms. Biunno and Ms. Wirth spoke about Character Education and strategies for students prevent violence and bullying. The "Queen of Peace" made an appearance and defined Peace "as feeling safe and calm and when citizens work and play together in harmony without violence".
Superintendent of Schools, Walter Hrycenko, presented the required annual Violence and Vandalism Report at the September BOE meeting which you can review here.
